About
With a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona, a C-27 Landscape Contractor's License and 18 years experience working alongside a variety of talented landscape architects, designers, engineers and contractors; Chad brings together the creativity of a designer's mind, the technical expertise of a draftsman, and the know-how knowledge of a contractor to offer a hands-on, multi-skilled approach to his design services.
Chad begins every project with the foundation of a clear understanding and intention, followed by mindful communications, actions and efforts, in order to provide his clients with a positive and productive experience.

A Southwestern Zen Garden
The underlying objective here was to re-imagine the landscape with austerity and restraint. Functionally, the slopes needed a series of retaining walls to create flat garden terraces. From there, the use of cacti and succulents, with architectural form and vibrant color, were thoughtfully placed amongst naturally colored stone pebbles and accent boulders.

A Neighborhood Garden for People, Plants & Pollinators
This once thirsty front lawn was replaced with a garden that respects the often scarce CA resource of water, provides sanctuary for our local pollinators, and connects the points of access for the people migrating through with the use of natural flowing curves. Linda Drive
A Family Garden with Something for Everyone
The objective for this project site was to create a terraced food-scape, a fruit tree orchard, a CA native pollinator garden, a children's lawn play area, and a space for the adults to play and entertain. Truly a space for everyone. The slopes were designed with a series of terrace walls, steps and walkways. The upper adult space includes a custom built bar, floating bench + fire pit and an open decomposed granite area for lawn game play. (Build credit goes to Flores Masonry & Enviroscape LA)

Function & Feeling
The design guidelines for this particular project were to create a cohesive modern garden with clean cool lines, warm wood accents, water-wise plantings, functional spaces and artistic touches. The architecture of the home was reflected throughout the garden in order to create a harmonious balance between home and the surrounding environment.

Highgrove Street
A Garden to Bring People & Nature Closer Together
A special garden was the result of this client's vision to bring people and nature closer together. In front you have a welcoming and functional entry with a cozy space to enjoy sunsets and greet neighbors. In back you have a tranquil garden setting where gatherings of all sizes can spend quality outdoor time together. All throughout is the use of CA native plantings and pollinator refuges. Organize & Conceptualize
Designs will be organized into a comprehensive conceptual design plan (Concept Plan) which will include: Detailed 2D site plan, 3D viewports, inspirational imagery, dimensions, callouts, notes, square footages + linear footages, hardscape + landscape material palettes, and necessary schedules.
Research & Consult
Visualize & Design
Research into city restrictions and/or requirements, material possibilities and consulting with engineers and contractors for any potential construction hurdles. A base plan of the property is created and the preliminary design process begins.
Use of a refined 2D spatial design layout, 3D modeling, sections, elevations and/ or inspirational imagery are presented to help with the visualization of how the design elements will fit together within the project site.

Bidding
CCY designs puts clients into the hands of entrusted & highly skilled contractors who do what they do best, and that's build. Each contractor will utilize the concept plans to provide an accurate bid as well as a guide during the construction phase in order to ensure the integrity of the design is not lost.

Project Liaison
CCY designs does not offer project management services, but rather offers its services as a project liaison during the construction phase of a project. Project liaison facilitates the communication and cooperation between client, designer and contractor(s).
Observe, investigate and understand each project through the gathering of pertinent information, including: clients needs/ wants, site characteristics, site analysis, measurements & photographs, architecture of home, style of the client, exposure to elements, budget, etc.
